About Tamie
Tame Mees's Rabbitry
My name is Tamie File, formally known as Tamie Kerr, owner of Tamemees rabbitry, nationally known Netherland dwarf breeder since 1980! Yes that is decades and not years. Over the years I have had many different breeds of rabbits including the Holland, the French and Mini lop, both standard and mini rex, dutch, and angora and many more but the dwarf bunny was always my favorite. The awesome personalities on these little gems are like no other. They are very small, average weight is just over two pounds but some are even less than 2 pounds fully grown, other can reach three pounds but not often. The dwarf comes in wide variety of colors, my favorite being the Tortoiseshell,
also known at the tort, which comes in both blue and black and broken. I raise all, as well as blue and black self, blue and black otter, blue and black fox. I also have chestnut and opal along with a few sables and sable points, and the broken pattern, which means it’s partially white.
I breed for high end show; my goal is always to breed the best tortoiseshell dwarfs out there and for now I hold that title. I am known for selling my national winners so that others can compete at just as high a level as me. I love getting new people involved in the hobby, especially children, teenagers or young adults. The rabbit world is an awesome hobby filled with wonderful people. I travel all over the US showing my rabbits and selling my award winning stock.
Most of my babies stay right here locally as pets. Because of that temperament is as important to me as type and confirmation. When selling babies I guarantee not just the bunny’s health and teeth but also it temperament. It’s important these little guys be sweet, they are handled from birth, and they’re selectively bred to be small, cute and friendly.
I always recommend bucks for pets most of the time as they are normally smaller, cuter and have the more outgoing personality. However my girls still come with the same guarantee.
I have an awesome rabbit barn, originally built for breeding horses, it is now fully insulated, Air conditioned, has two sewer drains, two large industrial size ventilation fans and almost all cages are oversized for a dwarf. I love to watch them run, play and jump so they have the cage space to do so. I have over 200 bunnies and breed year round, there is show and breeding stock as well as pet babies available always. Want to get started but not sure how? Come plan a trip out to see the herd. I sell proven breeding stock. This is always the best way to start even if you are not interested in showing, just want backyard bunnies. (They need a cage or they will be snake, cat or hawk food).
