Pet breeders, meaning not for show purpose
Want to have some babies bunnies but don't want to be over run with rabbits everywhere that no one wants? Great thing about dwarfs is they are small and have small litters (most of the time) They have lethal genes, meaning not all babies survive. 2 rabbits does lead to a 100. With the exception of a couple hot summer months there is almost always a demand for pet bunnies and dwarfs are one the most popular. Even though pedigreed my "Pet Breeders" will not come with theirs. If you are getting rabbits for pets there is a reason. My suggestion is get a proven trio, which is a buck and two does. I always suggest at least one bigger doe, meaning at least 2 1/2 pounds preferable a little bigger. These are known as BUDs ( big ugly does). Breeders love their buds, these girls raise all the babies those pretty girls don't. Never let the outer appearance fool you. Some of the best dwarfs in the world come from a BUD. Having a bigger doe can mean the difference in having live babies or not. However that doesn't mean my little girls are not good moms. Most of my herd is smaller typier girls. But a lot of babies are lost with the little girls verses the big girls.
